I loved hearing Mala’s friends recollecting the text messages and phone calls when it happened. The news of Henri proposing to Mala in Queenstown, New Zealand and the hope and happiness that news brought. Weddings are such a beacon of promise for the future and watching my clients plans and visions come to fruition on their wedding day is so gratifying and Mala and Henri’s was no different.
Both of Henri and Mala’s heritage was evident throughout the day with friends and family from around the world. Mala’s Burmese heritage and Henri’s Dutch heritage were given moments of honour throughout the day including a beautiful hand wrapping ceremony performed by family friends of Mala’s. I was welcomed into their family’s with open arms and if the love and kindness I felt is anything to go by, these two are not going to want for any love in their own marriage.
Tears and laughter are the two words I think of when I remember their wedding day. The day emerged with big blue skies and a blissful breeze just strong enough to keep the flies at bay at Sittella Winery. Mala was effortlessly beautiful in her Pronovias gown from Tuscany Bridal as she carried her rose bouquet dotted with orchids. I witnessed her cry tears of joy as she walked down the aisle and said yes to Henri in front of their friends and family and then laugh wholeheartedly during their vows.
Mala and Henri – I can’t thank you enough for allowing me to share your day with you and to your families trust and open arms. I was compelled to watch Goldmember this week after your incredible, humurous reception and don’t think I’ll ever see an entrance quite like yours ever again. I hope you have a wonderful honeymoon and I look forward to hearing all about it when you return 🙂
