Giving back is always on my mind. I think its important to do so – whether you have excess means or not. I do believe that what goes around comes around and we should all be helping each other no matter the creed, race or geographical location. I’ve been struggling to find ways to give back but I feel that I would rather give my time than simply write a cheque but have not yet found the right way to go about it. Thankfully someone took care of this for me 🙂
In October, I received an email advising that I was nominated for the Thirst Relief Mentor Auction and was so, so, SO excited. I have been following the mentor auctions for a couple of years and I am so grateful and humbled to be able to say that I am involved with this organisation as I firmly believe in what they are doing.
So who are Thirst Relief International? They are a not-for-profit organisation that brings clean water to community’s that desperately need it. The statistics on reports of communities without clean water are staggering and clean water is something that we can easily take for granted. Thirst Relief annually hold an auction with photographers from all over the world donating a mentor session to the highest bidder and all proceeds go to Thirst Relief. Last year during the Mentor Auction, Thirst Relief raised over $40,000 dollars that in turn provided over 8,000 people with clean drinking water and I am so proud to be a part of the auction this year.
Here are the specifics:
- The auction runs from 14th-16th November through eBay. I will be putting up links through Facebook, Twitter and also updating this post with links direct to my auction as soon as they are released. There may be a few slight start issues with time zone differences if you are in Australia but please if you’re interested, please, please, please don’t be late in putting in your bid. **EDITED – You can view my listing and start bidding HERE**
- The prize to the winning bidder on my auction is that we’ll head out for lunch on the coast (my shout!) and spend 90 minutes one-on-one talking about whatever you want. Marketing. Branding. Shooting. How I want to give Lindsay Lohan a hot meal and a toothbrush. Whatever you want – I will be an open book. If you are not in Perth, we can also video chat or go completely old school and talk on the phone depending on where you are in the world and what works best for you. We’ll work out a mutually acceptable date before the end of February 2012 for us to catch up.
- My friends at Cypress Albums have so generously donated a 4×6″ double folio in my signature silk fabric for the winning bidder too.
Thank you in advance for helping me support Thirst Relief and fingers crossed I get at least one bid 🙂
Have a great weekend!
