I hope its a sign of contentment as well as the obvious indication that we are a little set in our ways, when you preferred to have a birthday brunch than a night out to celebrate your birthday. A glass of strawberry and watermelon juice over breakfast this morning to toast to your health is a little different than your first birthday I shared with you but nonetheless special.
While we’ve known each other for over a decade, I have realised that it has only been 8 short years that I have been lucky to be there by your side as you celebrate your birthdays. Just 8 years. I’ve seen you grow older (but definitely not milder) and while you may have more lines on your face and gained a slight salt-and-pepper head of hair, the journey has really just begun.
It was just a few short months ago that I promised to take you as my husband in front of our closest family and friends. I promised to encourage and support you. I promised to be understanding and patient as we evolve as a couple and as a family. With every beat of my heart. You are my best friend and now my husband and I cannot think of any other man I would rather spend my life with.
Its funny because I have come to a stage in my life where I can’t remember my life before there was you and I can’t imagine a day without you in my future.
Happy birthday, Grant.
