The little chef

January 23, 2013

There is nothing quite like watching a child grow from a baby and into a small person to make you count down the days and wonder where the years went. There is something different about having watched Liam grow compared to my step-children, perhaps because I knew him from the moment he was born. He will always be this little baby while Ben and Phoebe came into my life as little people.

Like a whirlwind, he came to stay last week for a few nights and even though I had a load of work after the Christmas break, I would never pass up a moment to see him or spend time with him.

I suggested that we make a marble cake to pass the time one morning and ended up watching this big 8 year old boy almost make the whole thing himself while I photographed him. I know that I’ll blink and he’ll be a teenager and not wanting to bake with me and watch Ratatouille.

It’s a little scary how quickly they grow up, isn’t it?
