FAVOURITE WEEKEND GETAWAY

FAVOURITE DESSERT

Meeting new people I would never meet otherwise. I love being welcomed into their families and being able to share in their joy of a wedding.

There is so much I’ve learned since getting married but the most poignant is that marriage is not about “finding” the right person but about “being” the right person. Give generously, don’t keep score and be quick to listen and slow to speak.

Rear Window with Grace Kelly and James Stewart. Grace Kelly is luminous and Hitchcock is a master. Plus James Stewart distracts an attacker with his camera flash, which is fantastic!

The biggest and most pungent plate of cheeses brought out at the end of the meal at a friends home in Lyon, France. I can’t tell you how amazing that was with everyone drinking their wine and laughing at stories all the while the room was permeated with this incredible “fromage”.

Ever since seeing the Talented Mr Ripley, I've wanted to visit the coastal areas of Italy. Preferably while riding a red vespa and eating gelato of course.

fresh flowers

Fresh flowers in any form are a welcome addition to our home and my favourites are glorious hydrangeas (that remind me of our my own wedding bouquet pictured here) or simple scented roses.

gardening

Being able to walk though our garden with a coffee in the morning and see what has grown or bloomed overnight is one of my greatest pleasures in life. Our vegetable patch usually contains those hard to find vegetables like yellow zucchini or heirloom tomatoes and digging my hands in the dirt is by far the cheapest form of therapy there is.

Paris, Je t'aime! Not long after taking part in an exchange to Reunion Island I was a fully fledged Francophile with a dream to one day visit Paris. Having visited Paris a couple of times now, there is something about this city that captured my heart and there is no cure for it.

entertaining

Having our dining table surrounded by people we care about is one of my most favourite things. Food is my love language and while I work on the menu, my husband ensures everyones glasses are to the brim. What a team!

I love movies from the 50's and 60's and especially musicals, anything with Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly or a good classic Hitchcock film.

While not a big drinker of soft drink or juices in general, I can't go past a good almond milk flat white and a fresh coconut juice is one of my favourite summer treats. The scent and flavour is instantly transporting to a tropical getaway.

Our girls! These two pups are the reason I picked up a camera some 11 years ago and its hard to imagine life before they were my office mates and early morning alarm clocks. They're a little slower these days now they're officially elderly but there is nothing we love more than tormenting them with halloween outfits.

There are few things that inspire creativity in me as much as travelling does. Our family holidays to visit our extended family in Europe, United Kingdom and New Zealand fostered in me a curiosity for people and cultures and now my photography continues to offer me the chance to travel and indulge this curiosity, having taken me to 4 continents already.

Whether it is a long weekend in Margaret River or a longer stay overseas, it is these experiences on our travels that inspire me in my photography and give me a different perspective and creative view when I pick up my camera for my work.

A LOVE FOR TRAVEL
